USD (.usd, Universal Scene Description) is an open 3D scene format developed by Pixar Animation Studios. It is the industry standard for composing, animating and exchanging 3D scenes in film production and AR. Variants include .usda (ASCII text), .usdc (binary crate), and .usdz (single-file package for AR Quick Look).

Are my USD files uploaded?

No. Models you open from your device stay on your device and are rendered locally with WebGL. Only the public sample model is requested from the server.

.usdz is the packaged version of USD — a single uncompressed ZIP file containing the USD scene and all its texture resources. It is the format Apple uses for AR Quick Look on iOS and the web.
