EML (.eml) is a plain-text file format for storing a single email message, following the RFC 822 / RFC 5322 standard. It contains email headers (From, To, Subject, Date), the message body (plain text and/or HTML) and optional attachments encoded in Base64.

Are my EML files uploaded?

No. Emails you open from your device stay on your device and are parsed locally. Only the public sample email is requested from the server.

Can it open attachments?

The viewer lists attachments and their metadata. Downloading or opening attachments depends on browser capabilities and the attachment type.

About this file format

EML (.eml) is the standard plain-text format for storing email messages, defined by RFC 822 (1982) and updated by RFC 5322 (2008). Each .eml file contains the complete email: headers (From, To, Cc, Subject, Date, Message-ID), MIME parts (plain text, HTML, embedded images) and attachments (encoded in Base64). EML is supported by virtually all email clients including Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Gmail.
