DWF (Design Web Format) is an open, compressed format from Autodesk for sharing rich 2D and 3D design data for review and markup. DWFx is the XPS-based version. Both are designed to be smaller and more secure than DWG for distribution.

Are my DWF files uploaded?

No. Drawings you open from your device stay on your device and are parsed locally. Only the public sample drawing is requested from the server.

What is the difference between DWF and DWG?

DWF is a compressed distribution format for review and markup — it strips out editable design intelligence for security and portability. DWG is the full native editable format. DWF is how designs are shared with reviewers and clients.
