What is the Fifth Consumption Era?
The Fifth Consumption Era (2021-2043) represents a fundamental shift from material accumulation to spiritual fulfillment and well-being. Against the backdrop of global aging, declining birth rates, and increasing single households, consumption society is transitioning from the pursuit of material goods to the pursuit of identity, emotional connection, sustainable development, and community belonging.
Well-being Philosophy
Well-being in the Fifth Consumption Era emphasizes holistic happiness that goes beyond material satisfaction. It includes mental and physical health, meaningful relationships, personal growth, purpose in life, and contribution to society. This represents a move from "having" to "being."
From Tool-based to Instant Gratification
Previous eras focused on "tool-based consumption" - buying things for their utility. The Fifth Era shifts toward "instant gratification consumption" - experiences that provide immediate emotional and spiritual satisfaction, such as wellness services, cultural experiences, and social connections.
The Lonely Society Impact
The rise of single-person households and social isolation has created a "lonely society." This drives demand for services that provide social connection, emotional support, and community belonging. Businesses that can address loneliness through their offerings will thrive in the Fifth Era.

Important Note
This framework is based on sociological observation and theory, not mathematical modeling. The 7S scores and predictions are illustrative tools for understanding social trends and should be used for educational and strategic thinking purposes only.
