LHA (.lha, .lzh) is an archive format created by Haruyasu Yoshizaki in 1988 (originally LHarc). It was popular on Amiga, in Japan, and in early shareware distribution. It uses LZSS-based compression methods like -lh1- through -lh7-.

What is the difference between .lha and .lzh?

They are the same format. .lzh was the original extension (LHarc compressed), while .lha became the standard extension for later versions. Both use the same LHA archive structure.
