CBZ (Comic Book ZIP) is a ZIP archive containing ordered image files (usually JPEG or PNG) that represent the pages of a comic or manga. It is an open, simple format — renaming a .cbz to .zip lets any archive tool read it.

Are my CBZ files uploaded?

No. Files you open from your device stay on your device and are read locally. Only the public sample archive is requested from the server.

How is CBZ different from CBR?

CBZ uses ZIP compression and works everywhere. CBR uses RAR compression and requires RAR-compatible tools. CBZ is the more widely supported comic format.
