1. Convert soft steel from Vickers hardness
Materials technicianBackground
A technician has a carbon/alloy steel measurement recorded as HV 200 and needs equivalent Brinell and Rockwell values.
Problem
The technician needs to compare the Vickers result with HB and HRB values while checking whether HRC applies.
How to use
Select Steel (carbon / alloy), choose Vickers (HV), enter 200, and set Decimal Places to 1.
{"material":"steel","inputScale":"HV","value":200,"decimalPlaces":1}Outcome
The result is HV 200.0, HB 192.0, HRB 92.0, and HRC out of range because HRC is valid for hardened steel at approximately HV 240 or higher.
