1. Calculating FM Radio Wavelength in Air
RF EngineerBackground
An engineer is designing a dipole antenna for a local FM radio station broadcasting at 100 MHz.
Problem
The engineer needs to find the exact wavelength of the 100 MHz signal in free space to cut the antenna elements to the correct length.
How to use
Set 'Convert From' to 'Frequency', select 'MHz' as the unit, enter '100' in the frequency field, and choose 'Light/Vacuum' as the medium.
convertFrom: frequency, freqUnit: MHz, frequency: 100, medium: lightOutcome
The tool outputs a wavelength of approximately 2.998 meters, allowing the engineer to calculate the half-wave dipole length.
