Keep album dynamics or match individual tracks?
Measure first. Leave approved masters unchanged unless correction is needed; album gain preserves relative levels, while per-track matching can erase intentional quiet passages.

Workflow Playbook
Check one finished album's order, tags, loudness relationships and transitions, then assemble and verify a digital distribution package with cover art and reports.
Hubs
This workflow is for an independent artist or small label handing off a finished album, not for mixing unfinished tracks. Keep a backup and write the approved order, individual titles and intentional pauses on one track sheet. Use numbered filenames so natural filename sorting produces the intended sequence. Compare the tool's reported order with that sheet; tag track numbers alone do not establish processing order.
Inspect codec, rate, depth, channels and tags before editing. A shared album or artist field is suitable for a batch edit; one shared title is not. Reopen edited files to make sure distinct titles and numbers survived. Measure loudness, true peak and range before matching. An album with a quiet introduction and a loud finale should not automatically become a playlist of equally loud tracks. Album gain can preserve their relationship, but peak safety may keep the chosen loudness target out of reach. Record that trade-off rather than repeatedly processing the masters.
Run the gapless audit on the final ordered files. Silence detection depends on the threshold and inspected windows; a finding is not a musical judgment or proof that the whole recording is free of clicks. Listen across adjacent tracks, compare intended pauses and test the actual player. The validator does not modify files. Lossless formats avoid lossy encoder padding, but do not remove silence already present in the signal.
Keep an approved standalone cover even when audition files have embedded art. Adding artwork and extracting it again verifies a supported file's attached image, not rights clearance or store approval. Do not mistake a small embedded thumbnail for the intended high-resolution delivery asset.
Choose a profile as a local checklist, then compare it with the distributor's current requirements. This workflow does not upload to stores or guarantee acceptance. A ZIP can be produced with failures, so inspect README.txt and release-info.json before accepting it. Optional depth conversion is not a universal correction: it may leave a rate mismatch, and the packager warns about conversion without dither. If a new render is required, use a deliberate conversion or mastering path and repeat measurement.
Extract the ZIP, confirm count and order, inspect the actual master streams and cover, and audition both masters and previews. Reports may describe the input probe, so inspect converted outputs directly. Distinguish preview files from delivery masters and document every accepted warning. Use the mastering workflow for tonal or dynamics work, metadata tools for catalog-only tasks, audio conversion for specific format changes, and library cleanup for unrelated collections. CD layout and burning are outside this digital handoff.
Workflow playbook
Inspect stream information and tags, number filenames for the intended order, and apply only appropriate shared metadata edits; reopen outputs to verify individual titles and numbers.
Measure the tracks before changing gain. If needed, use album-aware matching with deliberate peak headroom, then remeasure final renders without flattening intended dynamics.
Validate the numbered album sequence, inspect silence and format differences, and audition adjacent tracks; repair genuine defects upstream and rerun the audit.
Keep the approved standalone cover for delivery; embed it only in supported files that need it, extract a representative embedded image and verify the result rather than assuming it was retained.
Measure first. Leave approved masters unchanged unless correction is needed; album gain preserves relative levels, while per-track matching can erase intentional quiet passages.
Compare seam measurements with the intended track list and listen across the boundary. The validator diagnoses files; it cannot repair seams or guarantee every player's gapless behavior.
Prefer copying an accepted master. If conversion is required, choose it deliberately and recheck rate, depth and audio; a bit-depth conversion does not fix every profile failure.
Choose the intended distributor profile and optional previews, generate the ZIP, inspect all warnings and failures, and extract it to check filenames, streams, cover and report consistency.
