Acronym Generator

Build an acronym or initialism from a phrase — pick which words contribute a letter, which letter(s) to take, how to join them, and the final case.

Word source — which words contribute:

• Each word — every word in the phrase gives a letter. National Aeronautics and Space Administration → NASA (one letter per word).
• Capitalized words only — only words that start with a capital letter contribute. Great for extracting the meaningful nouns out of a title while skipping small filler words. National Aeronautics and Space Administration → NASA (the lowercase "and" is skipped automatically).

Letter from — which letter(s) each contributing word gives:

• First letter — the usual initialism behavior: take the first character.
• First + last letter — take both the first and last character of each word. cat → CA. Fun for stylized brand acronyms and puzzles.

Separator & case:

• Separator: none (NASA), period (N.A.S.A), hyphen (N-A-S-A), or space (N A S A).
• Case: uppercase (default) or lowercase.

Good to know:

• A "word" is any run of letters; numbers and punctuation are treated as separators and don't contribute letters of their own.
• With "First + last letter" mode, single-letter words contribute just that one letter (no doubling).
