How does hit detection work?

What does Sensitivity control?

Low sensitivity finds fewer hits, Medium provides a balanced setting, and High sensitivity finds more potential hits.

What is the minimum hit spacing?

It sets the shortest allowed distance between detected hits in milliseconds. The value can range from 15 to 300 ms.

What is included in the ZIP?

The ZIP includes numbered audio slices in the selected format, timing.json with onset times and sample offsets, and optionally slices.mid.

What this tool helps you do

A content-based drum-loop chopper. It decodes the audio to mono PCM, runs an energy-based onset detector (Hann-windowed frame energy → half-wave-rectified novelty function → adaptive-threshold peak picking with backtracking to the attack), then slices the in-memory PCM at each detected onset with a small pre-roll. Output is a ZIP containing correctly encoded slice_001 files in the selected format, timing.json (onset times + sample offsets), and optionally slices.mid (one note per slice on GM drum channel 10). An optional one-based rearrangement pattern such as 1,2,1,3 also writes a reassembled loop in the chosen format. Unlike a beat-grid slicer, this is driven by the actual transient content, so it works on loops of unknown or uneven tempo.
