Interactive simulation of the Aharonov-Bohm effect demonstrating that the electromagnetic vector potential A has direct physical significance in quantum mechanics. A charged particle acquires a quantum phase shift δφ = (e/ℏ)Φ even when traveling through a region where B = 0, provided the path encloses magnetic flux. The simulation features a double-slit experiment with a solenoid between the two paths. Adjustable magnetic flux Φ/Φ₀ (−2 to +2), wavelength λ, and slit separation d. The interference pattern shifts in real time: I(θ) = cos²(πd sinθ/λ + δφ/2). Four presets: Zero Flux (standard pattern), Half Quantum (half-fringe shift), Full Quantum (pattern identical to zero flux by 2π periodicity), Phase Shift π (constructive/destructive swap). Display options: particle paths with animated electrons, solenoid with flux indicator, vector potential field lines A showing curling pattern where B = 0, interference screen. Real-time statistics: phase shift δφ in units of π, flux ratio, central fringe position, pattern state. Bottom canvas shows intensity profile with fringe shift marker.
