# Link-as-Document Share URL Generator

Pack an entire document into a single shareable URL — no account, no server, the link IS the document. Optional AES-256 password encryption, five templates, and the recipient just opens the link to read it.

## Overview

Following the Tiny Little Office idea (HN 50096142): your document is compressed (DEFLATE) and encoded into the URL fragment, which browsers never send to any server — privacy by architecture, not by policy. The recipient opens the link and the /doc viewer renders it instantly, fully client-side. This generator takes a title, lightweight Markdown content (# headings, - items, [ ] tasks), header fields and one of five templates (note, letter, checklist, meeting minutes, resume), then produces the share URL plus a downloadable plain-text fallback. Optional password protection encrypts the payload with AES-256-GCM using a PBKDF2-derived key (150,000 iterations) — decryption happens only in the recipient's browser after they type the password; the password itself never travels with the link. Every link is graded for portability: ≤ 2,000 characters is safe anywhere (chat, email, QR), ≤ 8,000 works in browsers and most apps, longer links are browser-only — honest guidance, because messengers can truncate long URLs even though browsers accept up to ~2 MB. Honest limits: a lost link is a lost document, and encryption guards against strangers reading a leaked link, not against anyone who has the password.

## Inputs

- **Document title** (text): e.g. Q4 Launch Checklist
- **Content (Markdown-lite: # heading, - item, \[ \] task)** (textarea): # Section A paragraph. - item \[ \] task \[x\] done task
- **Template** (select)
- **Header fields (one "key: value" per line, optional)** (textarea): date: 2026-10-16 author: Alex to: Product team
- **Password (blank = no encryption)** (text): min 6 characters — stays with you, never in the link
- **Viewer language** (select)
- **Site origin for the share link** (text): https://elysiatools.com (default)

## When to use

- When you need to share notes, checklists, or letters without creating an account or storing sensitive text on a remote server.
- When sending private memos or sensitive correspondence that should only be readable by someone with an AES-256 decryption password.
- When you want to share lightweight Markdown documents instantly across chat, email, or QR codes as standalone, portable links.

## How it works

- Enter your document title, select one of five structured templates, and compose your content using lightweight Markdown headings, bullet points, and task checkboxes.
- Add optional key-value header metadata and specify an AES-256-GCM encryption password if you want client-side cryptographic protection.
- The generator compresses your document payload with DEFLATE, encodes it into the URL hash fragment, and evaluates URL length for safe transmission across chat apps, QR codes, or web browsers.
- Share the generated URL; when the recipient opens the link, the viewer decompresses and renders the text entirely within their browser.

## Use cases

- Distributing release checklists and operational runbooks directly in Slack or Microsoft Teams without cloud document clutter.
- Transmitting confidential handoff notes or sensitive resignation letters protected by an out-of-band AES-256 password.
- Generating serverless, ephemeral meeting minutes or short resumes that recipients can render instantly in any web browser.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is my document text saved on your server?

No. The entire document payload resides in the URL fragment after the hash symbol, which web browsers never transmit to any server.

### How does the optional password protection work?

Your content is encrypted client-side using AES-256-GCM with a PBKDF2-derived key. The password is never stored or included in the link.

### Can I recover a document if I lose the share URL?

No. Because no copy is kept on any database or server, losing the link means losing the document permanently unless you saved the fallback text.

### What Markdown elements are supported?

The viewer supports lightweight Markdown notation including section headings (#), bullet lists (-), and interactive task checkboxes ([ ] and [x]).

### Why does the tool show a portability tier for my URL?

Certain chat apps and email clients truncate links over 2,000 characters, so portability ratings help verify your URL fits your delivery channel.

High TSH + low FT4 → overt primary hypothyroidism; high TSH + normal FT4 → subclinical hypothyroidism; low TSH + high FT4/FT3 → overt primary hyperthyroidism; low TSH + normal FT4 → subclinical hyperthyroidism, exogenous hormone, or resolving thyroiditis (check FT3 for T3 toxicosis); low/normal TSH + low FT4 → central hypothyroidism; high TSH + high FT4 → TSH-secreting adenoma or thyroid hormone resistance. Low FT3 with normal TSH/FT4 indicates low-T3 (non-thyroidal illness) syndrome. Units selectable for TSH, FT4, FT3. Derived from ATA 2014/2016, NACB 2002, Garber 2012, and MDCalc. Not medical advice.
