# GitHub Profile README Studio

Generate a complete GitHub profile README — banner, stats tiles, contribution heatmap, 3D contribution skyline and project cards — baked once into static, themeable SVG assets. No badge services that can go down; commit the SVGs next to your README and the profile never breaks.

## Overview

Create a developer portfolio with three distinct compositions: Orbital Observatory, Engineering Blueprint or Editorial Portfolio, each compatible with all ten color palettes. Personalize the name, headline and skill tags. The banner, metric dashboard, daily heatmap, isometric daily contribution city and project cards share one visual system. Download README.md, local SVG assets, snapshot.json, HOW-TO.txt and preview.html; open the preview locally before committing README.md and assets/ to your username repository. All SVG artwork is static and self-contained. Numbers refresh when you regenerate; no external badge hosting is required. Live mode uses GitHub data; snapshot mode works offline. Repository selection covers up to 100 recently pushed public repos; the stars metric covers only displayed snapshot repositories. Missing calendar data is explicitly labeled unavailable. The sample preset uses synthetic data.

## Inputs

- **GitHub username** (text): e.g. torvalds (blank if pasting a snapshot)
- **…or paste a snapshot JSON (from a previous run)** (textarea): {"login":"…","repos":\[…\],"contributions":{"days":\[…\]}}
- **Theme** (select)
- **Design style** (select)
- **Personal headline (optional)** (text): Building thoughtful tools for curious people.
- **Skills, comma-separated (optional)** (text): TypeScript, Rust, Design, Open source
- **Banner card** (checkbox)
- **Stats tiles** (checkbox)
- **Contribution heatmap** (checkbox)
- **3D contribution skyline** (checkbox)
- **Project cards** (checkbox)
- **Max project cards (0-6)** (number)
- **Display name override (optional)** (text): shown on the banner instead of the profile name

## When to use

- Replacing unreliable third-party dynamic badges and external image widgets with robust, self-hosted static SVG assets.
- Designing a cohesive developer portfolio README with matching banner visuals, metrics, heatmaps, and project showcases.
- Generating or restyling GitHub profile assets offline using an existing snapshot JSON export without querying the GitHub API.

## How it works

- Enter a GitHub username to pull public repositories and activity, or paste an existing snapshot JSON payload to work offline.
- Select your visual presentation by picking a design style (Orbital, Blueprint, or Editorial), choosing from ten color palettes, and tailoring optional text fields.
- Toggle desired modules such as the header banner, stat tiles, daily contribution heatmap, 3D isometric skyline, and project cards.
- Download the generated bundle containing README.md, theme-aligned local SVG graphics, snapshot.json, HOW-TO.txt, and preview.html to inspect and commit.

## Use cases

- Open-source contributors showcasing top repositories, language usage, and yearly contribution intensity in one clean layout.
- Job-seeking developers crafting an engineering-themed profile with custom headlines, core skill tags, and featured project links.
- Developers needing fully offline or reproducible profile assets that work without external server round-trips.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why use static SVG files instead of dynamic shields or external badge APIs?

Static SVGs are committed directly alongside your README, eliminating external API dependencies, rate limits, and broken image icons during badge service downtime.

### How do my profile statistics and contribution counts refresh?

Because the files are completely static, numbers do not update automatically in real time; rerun the studio with your username or an updated snapshot to re-bake the SVGs.

### What repositories are analyzed to compute project tiles and displayed stars?

The generator queries up to 100 recently pushed public repositories, and star counts represent only the repositories captured in the snapshot.

### Can I preview my new layout before pushing changes to GitHub?

Yes, the downloadable ZIP archive includes a preview.html file so you can inspect the entire profile layout locally in any standard browser.

### What happens if GitHub contribution calendar data cannot be retrieved?

If contribution calendar metrics are unavailable, the studio explicitly flags and labels the calendar data as unavailable rather than failing.
