The recorder decodes the full stereo file, scans every candidate (start, length) pair in your target range, and scores each seam two ways: cross-correlation of the audio leading into the loop start versus the wrap point, and how quiet the region around the seam is compared with the recording median — a seam hidden in the quietest moments is far less audible on repeat, which is how field-recordists place loop braces by hand. The winning seam is snapped to a zero crossing and exported with a long wrap-around crossfade (default 4 s, equal-power curve, the right choice for uncorrelated texture material) so the loop folds back on itself without a dip or a bump. A gentle high-pass removes rumble, and the loop can be peak-normalized to −1 dBFS for consistent game/audio-ducking beds.
