## Overview

Takes a lead vocal or monophonic melody and adds pitch-shifted harmony voices at standard diatonic intervals — major 3rd, perfect 5th, octave above, octave below, or stacks of several at once. Each harmony is generated by transposing a copy of the input by an exact semitone offset (+4, +7, +12, −12…), then mixed under the lead. Pitch shifting uses FFmpeg's rubberband filter with formant preservation when available (so harmonies sound like a different singer rather than a tape-speed trick), falling back to the asetrate resample method otherwise. Harmonies can be panned wide across the stereo field for a fuller ensemble feel. Optional loudness normalization to streaming levels.

## Inputs

- **Vocal / melody audio** (file)

## When to use

- Create backing vocals from a single lead vocal recording.
- Add a major 3rd, perfect 5th, or octave layer to a monophonic melody.
- Build wider vocal arrangements with stacked or upper-and-lower harmonies.

## How it works

- Upload a vocal or melody audio file.
- Choose a harmony preset or enter a custom interval from -24 to 24 semitones.
- Set the harmony level and optionally preserve formants, pan harmonies wide, or normalize loudness.
- Select an output format and generate the mixed audio file.

## Use cases

- Songwriters can preview vocal arrangements before recording additional singers.
- Producers can create layered 3rd and 5th backing vocals from one lead take.
- Musicians can add octave-up or octave-down layers to a monophonic melody.

## Frequently asked questions

### What audio can I upload?

The tool accepts an audio file as the vocal or melody input.

### Which harmony presets are available?

Presets include major 3rd above, perfect 5th above, octave above, octave below, 3rd + 5th stack, and 3rd above + below.

### Can I set a custom harmony interval?

Yes. You can enter a custom interval from -24 to 24 semitones.

### What does preserve formant do?

When enabled, formant preservation helps the pitch-shifted harmony sound more like a separate voice rather than a speed-shifted recording.

### Which output formats are supported?

You can export the generated harmony as MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, or OGG Vorbis.
