### What is a TTF file?

TTF (.ttf, TrueType Font) is a font file format developed by Apple in 1991. It stores font outlines as quadratic Bezier curves along with glyph mappings, metrics, hinting instructions and metadata. TTF is supported by virtually every operating system and web browser.

### What is the difference between TTF and OTF?

TTF uses quadratic Bezier curves and was developed by Apple. OTF (OpenType) is a newer format that can use either quadratic or cubic curves, supports more advanced typographic features (ligatures, alternates, small caps) and has better Unicode support. OTF is the modern successor to TTF.
